Vintage Large Merrythought Mohair Dressed Rabbit Doll ( 1930s-1940s )

Description

Featured in this auction is an impressive sized, vintage mohair dressed Merry Thought stuffed rabbit doll. She stands about 33 inches tall, is firmly stuffed with cotton batting and most likely was manufactured some time during the 1930s or 1940s. The head is articulated but not the arms or feet. Her ears are pink and ivory mohair and have bells sewn into the tips.The facial features consist of molded plastic(?) painted eyes, a firm dark pink pompom nose and a red embroidered mouth. The legs and hands are mohair. The trunk of her body is made with a blue checkered fabric. The shoes are made of a warm brown suede with red plastic buttons. The Merry Thought label is attached to the bottom of one of the shoes. The ivory ruffling was added to appear as socks. Her dress and head bow are vintage but not original to the rabbit doll. The floral head piece, though traditional to this rabbit , are not original to it.
The condition of this wonderful, old Merry Thought rabbit is good with no odors and little age related soiling. She has a glue repair in the middle of her body ( See photos ). And her tired, worn out feet have been recovered.
Charming and vintage, Mrs. Barlett ( a nickname I gave her because of her pear shaped head ) would be a very special addition to any collection of old toys from the past.
