This is a true statement piece.
Very LARGE AND RARE HAND-TURNED HAWAIIAN NORFOLK PINE BOWL MADE AND SIGNED By JOHN R. CRITCHFIELD . This is the only piece I have seen with attached branches. This must have been very difficult to turn.  This Amazing piece of wood displays beautiful spalting figure and trademark Norfolk Pine that are very desirable to turners. Each turning is one of a kind and done completely by hand. Each shape is designed  to bring out the individual characteristics of that piece of wood. This Bowl has many BOW TIE Inserts that add  character to the piece. MEASURES :  8" Tall by 23" in diameter  and has been hand turned. The natural fungus or "spalting" adds beautiful visual contrast with the creamy wood and no two are alike . This piece has a couple of age hairline cracks 1/60" that go nowhere and are not structural see photo.
John Critchfield  retired and started doing Wood Work. Being able to Turn Bowls Was a process that was Long in Coming you can see his work at  Sunshine Arts Gallery  in the Island of Oahu.  NOTE:   Any Bark, Voids, knots and inclusions in the wood are not considered defects. They are naturally occurring  in the wood and left in to accentuate its natural beauty.
